Brett wanted to play too when he woke up!

Aunt Jessy

My sister, Jessica (Aunt Jessy) came to stay with me and the boys while Matt was at a conference in Atlanta this weekend. They LOVE aunt Jessy! While Brett was sleeping and while I was finishing up sweeping, Jess drew on the white board with Ty. The black scary monster, Ty said was his daddy. ????

Just a curious thought...

I've been reading tons of blogs lately. Stay at home moms, working moms, people I went to college with...Your lives are very interesting. It made me want to know more...nothing deep, don't worry. And if you're reading this and you don't blog...I still want to know. What is your daily routine? Loaded question? How about...what is your daily routine up until lunchtime? If you want to go further than lunchtime, go for it. Don't make it better than it really is!!! That's your rule.
As I'm writing my blog at 1:15pm, I still have my pj's on. I HAVE brushed my teeth, but not much more than that. I've been potty training Brett (my 2 1/2 yr. old), playing with playdoe, writing on the chalkboard, cleaning the kitchen, folding clothes, playing with trucks, watching Ty play the wii...so I just haven't gotten my clothes on yet. My luck, someone from church will come knocking at the door (I live in the church parsonage)!! But hey...it's happened before. I just hide behind the door. Alright...let me have it.

We Made It!!! See the funny trees??

Ty & Brett slept almost the whole way from Gram's house in St. Pete to Hollywood. I woke them up when we got to the big "Hollywood" water tower, which means we are only maybe 2 or 3 minutes from Grammy & Grampy's house! Ty woke up first and said (about the palm trees), "Look, those are funny trees!" We laughed and told him what kind of trees those were. A minute or so later, Brett woke up. The first thing he said was, "HEY! Funny trees!"
Silly minds think alike!
Here's a couple of pictures of the funny trees and Grammy & Grampy's house!

Skyway Bridge, Tampa Bay

Going to Hollywood from St. Pete, we cross the Tampa Bay. We go over the Skyway Bridge, and the story of this bridge fascinates me. I know it was a tragedy, but just to know the story behind it, and to actually see it and be on the new bridge is great. Google "Skyway Bridge". Long story bearable...On May 9, 1980 at around 7:30 in the morning, a barge ran into the bridge because of so much rain and fog. 34 people died b/c their cars ran off the bridge, one vehicle was a Greyhound bus. One person who fell into the water survived. So now, on the old bridge, which you can see from my 2 pictures at the bottom, there's a fishing pier at both ends of the old bridge. It's just an incredible thing when I ride over the bridge. So this was part of our traveling on Christmas day, so I thought I'd add it into my "Christmas blog".

Matt's Grammy's House

We drove through the night on Christmas Eve to Matt's Gram's house in St. Pete, Florida. We stayed there only for the afternoon, then drove 4 more hours to Matt's parent's house. But while we were packing our car at Matt's Gram's house, her "wild" ducks came. They really are wild, but they come to her house 3 times a day and she feeds them. Our boys thought that was neat, so they fed them and had fun chasing them around the cars!

Bedtime Song

I just laid Ty & Brett down for a nap. Ty asked me to sing "Thy Word". That may mean little to you, but it means tons to me. They used to want me to sing "Twinkle Twinkle", and around the same time, Ty started talking about wishing on stars!! He says that came from watching Mickey Mouse. So I started singing "Thy Word". Here's the words...
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
When I am afraid, think I've lost my way, still you're there right beside me.
Nothing will I fear as long as you are near. Please be near me to the end.
They word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
YOU'RE the light unto my path.

To hear Ty & Brett ask for that song every night is awesome. My call in life is to love and support Matt, and to raise my children to be godly men. To do that with my children, I have to be aware of everything. Even singing songs about stars...or about God's Word guiding us in everything. I love singing that song to them. Better yet, I love hearing THEM sing it with me!! What bedtime songs do you sing with your kids?
